Recap the Tenth

7 November 2010

Recap of the previous adventure.

Among the Stars

With the hyperdrive non-functional, it was no use going up against a much larger ship; they were completely outclassed. Kistra and Breaker powered down all non-essential systems and waited for the Sith battleship to pass, hoping to float unnoticed in the debris field.

Shagarr was beginning to feel the effects of his mishap; though he could not feel anything of his left hand, he could definitely feel pain around the wrist and lower arm. Fortunately, one of the rescuees from Perat was a medic, and she was able to treat his wounds somewhat. However, without the proper medical supplies, her options were limited.

Once the Sith ship left the immediate area, the group gathered to discuss options. Kistra believed she might be able to get the hyperspace motivator functioning well enough to get to the Teedio system. There was a Jedi library there, where they could recieve help, and possibly another ship. They could also return to Perat to investigate the resources there, or they could explore the debris of the Republic cruiser for their belongings.

They elected for the last option, as Shagarr had secreted away a liter of kolto in his quarters. As there were only two spacesuits on board, Kistra and Breaker took it upon themselves to retrieve the valuable medicine.

The Republic ship had not only been shot at by the Sith battleship, but was attacked from within by cloaked Sith battledroids. During Kistra and Breaker's examination of the wreckage, they were attacked multiple times by these droids. The attacks were frustrating - the droids would decloak, fire a couple of shots, then disappear. It was only when the droids made the mistake of appearing in a blind corner or in a small room that Breaker would be able to blast them to pieces. After a few skirmishes, the pair retrieved Shagarr's kolto and raided the medical bay for as much as they could carry.

The medic's eyes lit up when they returned with kolto, and she put it to work immediately on Shagarr's burns. She cautioned that although kolto was a great improvement over battlefield medpacs, it would still take some time before his hand would be healed enough to work with.

Once she saw Shagarr was taken care of, Kistra attempted to repair the hyperspace motivator. In the end, she reasoned that the jury-rigged contraption would indeed go beyond lightspeed, but it was most likely going to explode as soon as the vessel re-entered normal space. When she communicated this news to her companions, they agreed that a trip to the Teedio system was the best option, and that Kistra should attempt to use the Force to direct the blast away from the ship as best she could.

Entry into the Teedio system was an introduction into chaos. Kistra was able to do a fair job redirecting the force of the blast, but the ship emerged in the middle of an all-out firefight between Republic and Sith ships. Using Kistra's status as a Jedi Knight, the party was able to get the attention of the Republic fleet commander, who directed the limping vessel to the nearest cruiser. There, the ship was evacuated, and the party were given another ship, under the priviso that they assist in the evacuation of Exis Station.

Kistra flew the ship through the brunt of the battle, with Breaker firing at any Sith ships trailing them, and Chuurga maintaining shields and systems. Shagarr came along, though his wounds prevented him from doing more than backseat driving.

The docking bay of the station had erupted into a battle that mirrored the one outside. Sith were attempting to establish a beachhead, and were meeting heavy resistance from Republic forces. A few shots from Breaker's cannons blew the Sith away - as well as part of the bulkhead. Emergency systems clamped into place, but not before everyone in the docking bay experienced decompression.

Inside the station proper, the party met up with an angry Togruta named Zeka Tarri. She was the de facto leader of the Republic squad tasked with spearheading the evacuation of the station, and Breaker's actions had just cost her a significant portion of her squad. She drafted the party into helping her fend off Sith incursions while librarian, clerks, and Republic soldiers alike loaded up the borrowed ship with as much from the Jedi archives as it could carry.

Once the Sith were defeated and the ship underway, Shagarr got an earful from the medic they had rescued. She had specifically told him that his wounds needed rest and time, and yet at the first opportunity he had gone off and gotten involved in an all-out firefight. If he wanted to lose his hand, all he had to do was say so, and it would be gone, replaced by the latest in cybernetics. After consulting with his friends, Shagarr learned that doing so would heal him faster, but would make it harder to connect with the Force. He promised the medic that he would try harder to give his wounds time enough to heal.

Frames and Assassins

Loaded with such valuable cargo, the party elected to return to Coruscant. Immediately upon making planetfall, Shagarr, Breaker, and Chuurga were arrested for the murder of Reatt the Hutt. Though they had been out of the system, evidence pointed to the trio having hired an assassin. Shagarr and Chuurga went quietly - Breaker took his name to heart and made a break for it, dodging fire and engaging his cloak and jetpack when the guards were unaware. He headed towards a large body of water, ditched his distinctive Mandalorian armor, and roamed the streets looking for information. Eventually he came up with a plan to infiltrate Reatt's place of business to look for clues, and began purchasing equipment to pull it off. But he used his own credit, and it was only a matter of time before he was captured.

Meanwhile, Kistra was working within the system. Working with Zeka, they staked their reputations on proving the owners of the Oonta Goonta innocent. Apparently the assassin who killed Reatt was dressed as a Mandalorian, but was captured too easily to live up to the name. He survived long enough to point the finger at Breaker, Chuurga, and Shagarr, and then was killed while under Republic protection. Breaker's account did show a debit to the assassin, though Breaker himself could explain that as the work of Kaname Song. To do that, however, he had to admit to his friends that he had taken money to let them be set up while they were on Perat.

Things got worse. Shagarr was already in the hospital in a secure wing because of his injuries - in a bacta tank for a week, according to the medic's orders. After Breaker's capture, he was wheeled in a similar tank, ranting about how much he had discovered without giving much in the way of specifics. Before too long, an agent visited the pair, dressed as a doctor, and administered a lethal dose of sedative into the tanks. It was only through Kistra's quick work that the two were ejected from their tanks before the drugs took full effect. Chuurga and Zeka managed to catch the agent as he was making his getaway. Chuurga was disturbed - though the man did not look familiar, he felt familiar, almost as if he had met him before.

Kistra convinced the authorities that she could keep Breaker close at hand. Shagarr still needed some medical attention, so she arranged for him to be taken care of at the Jedi temple. While he was recuperating, the rest of the party continued the investigation by interrogating the Twi'lek that had taken over for Reatt. They learned little; the only thing they seemed to learn at every stage was that while it was obvious they did not commit the crime, someone had set things up to appear as if they had.

There was only one thing left: Shagarr had taken the precaution of placing four tracking devices on board the ship prior to them leaving for Perat. Taking the frequencies for those tracking devices, they discovered that each one led to a completely different location. The first one was attached to a piece of hull that at first glance appeared to be from the Oonta Goonta, but was actually only from a ship of the same make and model. The second tracking device was attached to an engine - which was not even remotely where Shagarr had placed it. Someone was sending a message. But who? And what did it mean?

Shagarr had enough of all of this. He knew he was innocent, and that was enough. He left the Jedi temple and began roaming the streets of Coruscant. Employing his shadier contacts, he managed to get a quote for a semi-decent ship and three false identites. Hopefully he would only need the former, but if his patience was pushed much further, he'd use the latter to track down his ship - or what was left of it.
