Recap of the previous adventure.
Illusions and Scars
The ship was in a bad way. One of the landing struts was seriously comprimised, and it would take ages to properly clean away the carbon scoring. Everyone pitched in to help make the ship as spaceworthy as possible.
Once that was done, the ship and her crew were hailed from the captial city. Although every ship was away, there were still some of the poor and destitute that could not afford the extravagant prices charged to get off-world before the cultist's deadline. There was a halfway decent ship waiting form them in orbit, but it was in such a terrible state of repair that it would likely only survive one trip into an atmosphere. Would they help?
Shagarr negotiated the terms: while he understood that these people could not afford the fare themselves, he also understood that he was talking to a government representative. With some haggling, he convinced the representative that the passengers would all take whatever items appeared valuable - off the streets, in the dock itself - and leave it on board when they were transferred to the ship in orbit.
The ferrying process was unnerving. During the first and second trips, all anyone could hear was the chant "Doofu is coming for you!" over and over again. Alora, strangely, could hear nothing.
Only on the third trip did they find out why. Kistra spotted a full cultist army goose-stepping their way down the street, heading straight for the spaceport. The others readied their weapons as the panicked civilians climbed on board. Alora was puzzled, however; she couldn't see the cultists at all. She shared this piece of information with her companions.
Kistra, suspicious, threw a stone into the middle of the cultist army. The army began firing in her direction, but none of the blaster fire hit her or any of her companions. Proving a theory to herself, she used her lightsaber to deflect one of the bolts - and saw that it was only a laser. The army was an illusion!
Shagarr and Breaker didn't want to take any chances, especially not with the deadline looming. They got everyone on board, packed as they were, and rendevouzed with the ship in orbit to deposit their living cargo. Then they returned to the spaceport.
There was no sign of the cultist army. There were, however, several hundred droids that had been left behind - as they were not recognized life forms, they had been abandoned in the rush to evacuate the city. Shagarr was more than happy to invite them on board, where his T3-series droid powered them down, wiped memories, and stacked the merchandise like cord wood in his cargo bay for resale somewhere else.
In the meantime, the group began investigating the mystery of the cultist army. By focusing on the Force energy of all living things, the Jedi were able to pinpoint the one area on the planet with sentient life. The ship was parked relatively nearby, and they hiked through the woods to the location.
Kistra stopped them before they reached a clearing. Pointing through the trees, she revealed the existence of what looked like a dig site. Lots of large earth-moving robots were uncovering a lot of ground, and were in the presence of a small cadre of human overseers. One of those overseers was a woman in robes who was strong in the Force. Alora and Shagarr both noticed that the uniforms the others were wearing were of Czerka Corporation.
At first, it seemed like they would escape notice. But Shagarr, tired of all this sneaking around, opened fire on the mysterious rogue Jedi. In response, she leaped into the trees, and began to fight Alora and Kistra. Shagarr tried to engage her in melee, but she sliced his two-bladed sword to ribbons before refocusing on the Jedi Knight and her Padawan.
By comparison, the Czerka Corporation employees were easy to wrap up. Alora persisted in attempting to turn the rogue Jedi away from the Dark, and eventually, by feigning a grave injury, showed her the horrors she could inflict with her power. The rogue Jedi collapsed in shame, revealing that her name was Mariah Jane, padawan, left here by her master to oversee a collection of a secret weapons cache left here during the Mandalorian Wars. Her master claimed to have other matters to attend to. The cultist threat was a diversion to ensure their efforts were not impeded.
While this news was troubling to the Jedi, Shagarr and Breaker were more preoccupied with the idea of free weapons. They instructed the large droids to continue digging, and it wasn't long before a large crate was pulled out of the ground. Inside: a Mandalorian cannon, fit for mounting on a starship. The pilot and his co-pilot were thrilled with the idea of adding to the firepower of their ship, the Oota Goota.
Once the cannon was onboard - greatly diminishing the available space in the cargo hold - the group returned to the site of the collapsed temple to see if anyone had attempted an excavation. Sure enough, there was a large hole, and the console had been taken out. It wasn't too long after this discovery that a one-man Jedi snub fighter zoomed out of the canyon. Everyone piled on board the Oota Goota to give chase.
The pilot of the snub fighter gave the larger ship quite a run. Scraping around corners and through trees, Shagarr was accumulating a few more pock marks on his already slightly dented ship. The worst came when the snub fighter raced full-speed through a canyon. Though the Cathar pilot thought the larger vessel could make it, he realized at the last second that it wasn't so. It was only due to his piloting skills that the ship didn't explode, but it was suspended several meters in the air, held up by the cavern walls along both sides. The rogue Jedi master had gotten away.
After taking a few hours to fix the broken landing strut - easier to do now with magnetic harnesses than in a drydock - the ship managed to wrench itself free. The group then headed to the next location of a precursor console: Trandosha.
