Recap of the previous adventure.
Dark and Light Revealed
Shagarr piloted the Oota Goota beneath the floating towers, raising the vessel in a large circular dock hollowed out in the rock. There were several ships docked, at least one with the Czerka insignia clearly visible, others that were an all-too-familiar Sith design.
Not taking any chances, Shagarr parked in a clear space on the floor of the dock, snubbing the platforms clearly designated for that purpose. Breaker visited each of the ships, making sure detonite was firmly attached to the engines in such a way that firing them up would cause catastrophic explosions. Shagarr took some time to make sure the explosives were properly primed.
The group began the task of exploring the massive space station. Their newest companion, Chuugar, would stay and guard the ship.
The first room was a storage and supply chamber, packed with a large number of boxes. Alora and Kistra looked to the computers for a manifest, and found that many of the boxes were simply marked as "Classified," while others contained medical supplies, blaster rifles, personal deflector shields, and no small number of melee weapons. Shagarr broke open one of the crates and suggested everyone begin loading the medical supplies on board the Oota Goota.
In the middle of their second trip, however, they were interrupted by security droids. The four-legged droids were all legs and a large double-cannon blaster rifle for a head, with barely enough room for sensors to discern friend from foe. While the inital droid duo was easily dispatched, more kept coming from every door. There seemed to be an endless supply of them.
Shagarr took a try at hacking the computer that Alora had examined, and managed to ascertain that there were no less than two droid generation facilities in the base, and that an alarm had gone out about their arrival. Then the computer became extremly uncooperative, and it was all he could do to get a basic layout of the base.
While Breaker held off some of the droids by using his jetpack as a makeshift flamethrower, the Jedi fought their way to the first droid generation room. Here they saw many droids seemingly created from nothing due to the Sith's use of Rakatan technology. Two soldiers of the Sith, in their faceless silver armor, were in the room along with a regiment of constantly-replenished droids. The group smashed all of the machines, halting their droid generation, and Shagarr got another crack at a fresh computer console. This time, he was able to remove the Sith from the droid's IFF systems. Fatal firefights broke out all across the base.
Shagarr was not yet done. He created a script that would lock the doors along one side of the base, sealing the path from which the droids from the second generation room would arrive. No matter if the door was unlocked by another worker at another console, the doors would then be locked remotely.
The Sith were out of patience and had a small revenge: they overloaded the console that Shagarr was working at, very nearly blowing him to smithereens. It was with this blow that the group decided to make their way to Security.
Two of the Sith working in Security were working furiously at their consoles, attempting to undo what Shagarr had done. Thus, they failed to notice the blaster fire from Breaker and Shagarr in time to save their lives. The last Sith was a user of the Force, and gave the group a hard time before he went down. He activated a force field to surround the consoles while Breaker and Shagarr were near them, sealing them inside. He activated the droids, though that caused a slight annoyance when they attacked him, too. He threw some of the party around, but it was not long before he was defeated.
Shagarr suggested some interrogation. The Jedi balked at the notion of torture, but Shagarr shared some quiet words with their new prisoner and managed to extract some information. The Sith master was in the third tower. Something useful might be found in the second tower. And, of course, the usual threats about never being able to leave the station alive.
Some debate in the group surfaced over where to go next. According to the map Shagarr had acquired, the reactor room was only a short distance away. Could they simply blow up the reactor and trust that the explosion would destroy the superweapon? Were they absolutely sure that this was the superweapon, even though the reactor room was too small to power such a hugely destructive device?
Eventually, they decided to explore the second tower. Perhaps there, the group might find something useful, and then they could either detonate the reactor core or take out the master in the third tower.
This decision led them to a Z-shaped path. At one end of the Z, our heroes. At the other end, the entrance to the second tower. In the middle, a contingent of Sith and their droids.
Breaker was the first to move. He ran up to the group and again used his jetpack as a flamethrower, shorting out the droid sheild generators. But while his back was still turned, a Sith leapt over the sparking droids and cut Breaker's jetpack with a lightsaber. The safeties engaged, dropping the jetpack from Breaker's back in case of an explosion.
Before Breaker could properly react to the loss, the Sith ran to engage the Jedi in battle -- and Force-pushed Breaker off the far edge of the platform!
Shagarr had only just tried to fight a Sith with his two-edged blade. One edge was chopped off in a parry; steel was no match for a lightsaber. He happened to look over the shoulder of his opponent and saw Breaker being flung over the side of the platform.
Alora and Kistra were nearly blinded by a great, dark surge in the Force. Roaring with fury, Shagarr dropped the blades of his weapon, leaving only the handle in his hands. With another roar, he revealed that all this time his chosen weapon had concealed nothing less than a double-bladed lightsaber!
Shagarr struck the Sith that had struck his friend, again and again. At first, the Sith met his blade with his own, a smile at the familiar dark rage that had taken the Cathar. But as Shagarr's anger grew, so did his power and determination, and he began to strike harder than the Sith could defend. With Alora on the other side, landing blows of her own, the Sith began to worry that he would not manage to fight another day.
While Shagarr was raging, Kistra felt a tug of life. Temporarily abandoning the battle, she made her way to the edge of the platform where Breaker had been pushed. Scrabbling at the edge, the last of his fingers barely holding on, was Breaker, coming to terms with being afraid of heights and gravity for the first time in a long while. Kistra hoisted him up and pointed him towards some straggling droids, then ran back into the fray.
It was Alora, not Shagarr, that landed the deciding blow on the Sith Apprentice. And perhaps it was because of this that he was able to feel Kistra's hand on his shoulder, why he could hear her tell him that Breaker was still alive, and why it sank in. Shagarr powered off his lightsaber and ran to embrace his friend.
Breaker was not so easily consoled. First the unlucky blaster shot that had crippled the vaccuum seals in his armor, and now his prized jetpack was little more than slag on the floor of the platform. Mandalorian armor and equipment was in short supply, much less the means and knowledge to repair and replace it. He cried out in a rage that nearly mirrored Shagarr's, swearing a vengeance of his own.
After defeating the remaining Sith and their droids, Alora and Kistra moved to join the other two, preparing to discuss secrets, promises, and plans ...
